Interpretation

Function May have been surface upon which the late phase of Wall 7 was built, but it was not continuous with any occupation surface, nor was it a contnuous surface itself; may have been a fill below the wall stones that had been compacted by the stones

Stratigraphy remarks This thin layer sat beneath the stones of Wall 7 (late phase) & on top of Surf 23; partially filled the FT of the early phase of Wall 7, thus may have been used to level off this small area before laying the stones of the late phase of 7
