Interpretation
Function:
Occupational surface of hard-packed earth; many domestic artifacts just above the surface & are prob assocaited with it; may have been part of a household area; since Walls 5, 7 & 8 seem to enclose an interior space, Surf 6 may have been outdoors
Stratigraphy remarks:
Seals against the N face of Wall 5, thus was prob used with it; covers Wall 27 & ashy L 25, so was laid down over this earlier occupation phase; seals a (nearly) clean MB2 Locus (25), so dates to or after MB2; its W edge was either cut a way or completely destroyed by rock tumble; may have been continuous with Surf 16 to S

Small cobbles & many pebbles embedded in the top of the surface; sealing against & sloping up to Wall 5; a few large cobbles protrude through the surface; these are part of underlying features, not part of the tumble which was lying on top; slopes steeply in many directions, thus may have sunk or sagged since antiquity
