Interpretation

Function Unclear; if it has a connection to Wall 11, the only surface that is associated at the bottom of both walls is earth; it didn't appear to have been used as a surface; it may indeed be associated with L 8, since the bottom of the wall was not excavated on that side; prob the north channel wall bringing water to well house, though signs of running water were not found
Stratigraphy remarks Battered against Iron 2 debris; included nothing later than Iron Age bods; fill between Walls 9 & 11 (L 18) was Iron Age
