The main portion was fairly high in relation to the architecture; it alone cannot date most of the walls as it overlapped them; better to look at L 7, 8, 16, 18, 19, 15 which in many cases continue L 3 but can be distinguished from distructions

Remarks:

That the pebble count reads much the same as L 2 betrays the reality; large pebbles were significantly reduced & the cobbles were smaller & about half as many; this locus is difficult to categorize; just N of Wall 9 where Surf 11 petered out there were frag ash inclusions & bits of charcoal; a very few burned brick frags were scattered in places; some was MOD loose & some transformed into harder debris of the lower loci
