Remarks:

Placement of several cobbles suggest pit might have been lined, but lack of cohension between mudbrick & cobble makes verification imposs; Pit 15 cuts Destruction 5 & was sealed by Surf 13; interesting phenomenon: evidently Pit 15 utilized site of older Pit 17, expanding it but not extending so deeply (note levels); Pit 15 not only cuts Destruction 5, but it undercuts both Surf 13 & Deatruction 5 to a distance of at least 45 cm; to the N pit fill & mudbrick easily separated, revealing mudbrick in Destruction 5 placed at an angle; (one whole brick in NW pit line measures 36 x 24 x 15 cm); mudbrick forms floor of Pit 15 & is visible in both E & S balks; pit fill included freq animal bones, ashy materials, a few visible olive pits & seeds etc; Ii also contained large amounts of mudbrick detritus & cobbles; Munsell readings: 10YR 4/4 (dark yellowish brown); 10YR 2/2 (very dark brown); 10YR 5/2 (grayish brown); S & E balks reveal another pit--now designated Pit 18--which was in juxtapostion with Pit 17; Pit 18 cut Destruction 5 & was immediately above Pit 17; Pit 15 cut both Pits 17 & 18, absorbing Pit 18
