Soil color of Pit 8 was 2.5Y 3/2 (very dark grayish brown); two courses of stone delineating Hearth 8 also comprise the top two courses of earlier storage Pit 12; stones were in use with, but show little indication of being burned; apparently, it was not in use very long; appears to have been filled with large pebbles, small cobbles & sealed by Surf 13; top course of stones is adjoined by & overlaid with hard beaten-earth Surf 13; superimposed top plans indicated Surf 6 overlay Pits 8 & 12 as it spanned the distance between Walls 3 & 4; inner diameter measured 1.08 m N to S & .87 m E to W
