Interpretation

Function Destruction debris from an upper story of EIR1 House A; included mudbricks, cobbles, boulders, wood timbers, very little pottery; bones from a small horse indicate that the inhabitants were eating shortly before the destruction; if horse was not a normal part of their diet, it might indicate that the city was under seige; pithos with carbonized barley seeds in the bottom indicates that these were used to store grain

Remarks:

The bricks come in various shades of color: red, brown & black; cobbles & small boulders appear with varying frequency in different areas, as well as black ash deposits prob from burnt timbers; a new locus number was given to the room on the S side of the wall, as soon as the wall was evident
