Color varies from strains of red brick, grey ash, & white nari smears; compacted earth; color up to 10YR 6/2 - light brownish grey; moderate amount of flat-lying sherds slightly embedded in top; many of the pithoi of were broken on this surface; slopes slightly to S about 20 cm; an arbitrary bottom was made to separate the EIR1 Surf 33 from the poss MB layer over which it was laid
