Locus A.7K50.012

General Information

Locus Type:

Architecture

Supervisor:

J. Fisher

Designation:

E-W wall

Reason:

Stones in line and perpendicular to Wall 4

Top Separation:

Very Clear

Bottom Separation:

Very Clear

Start Date:

20 Jul, 1984

End Date:

26 Jul, 1984

Interpretation

Function:

The S row has been robbed evidently in the E portion near Wall 4B; since it is only one course, its function must have been of some temporary nature

Stratigraphy remarks:

At approx the same level as Pit 11 but obviously of better worked stones; since it abuts Wall 4B it is later, but since its W portion runs into rock tumble it is difficult to determine its W termination

Remarks:

See top plan for detailed levels immediately above and beside the wall; soil was compacted to a high degree, very difficult to pick and loosen, even "encrusted" on the rock surface
